About

Every semester, the ASWING Junior Golf Academy provides opportunities for junior golfers to play in a golf tournament. Our tournaments are based on the Academy's ability-level yardages in order for players to play from a yardage that offers a chance for success against the course, not other players.

All juniors will compete initially from 25 yards from the green. The goal is to shoot a score of 36 or less for 9-holes of golf. Some players will accomplish this yardage easily while new to the game players may struggle, but will have realistic chances at making a par or birdie against the course. We want to encourage our players to beat the course and NOT compare themselves against other more experienced players in their development.

Once a player beats score of 36 from 25 yards, the player will transition to 50 yards. The transition yardages are: 25 yds, 50 yds, 100 yds, 150 yds, Black tees, and then to age appropriate yardages based on a child's age.

CALL 912-655-9119 TO SCHEDULE A LESSON OR TO SPEAK WITH ME ABOUT MY COACHING PACKAGES. My father introduced golf to me when I was three years old. He would take me to play 18-holes and if I was good, I would receive a Snickers after the front nine and a Frosty Root Beer after the round. For the next few years, I continued to follow along with my Dad for the coke and Snickers and would take a few swings too. But during a family vacation to Great Britain, I persuaded Dad (with Mom's help) to allow me to play golf with him at the birthplace of golf; St Andrews, Scotland. On that fateful day, the "golf bug bit me" and started my love and passion for the game of golf. Through high school, I was fortunate enough to be taught by two instructors: Tom Treese and Dan Shelton, PGA. Because of these two coaches, they guided me and my progress to earn a college golf scholarship at Huntingdon College. While at Huntingdon, I earned All-American honors twice and our team won two National Championships. After college, it took me six years before I took the plunge in the professional ranks. Unfortunately due to shoulder injuries, my professional career ended before it really took off. I decided to earn my PGA Professional credentials in 2006 and was elected into membership with my Class A status in 2008. Also in 2008, the Alabama - West Florida Section honored me with the Junior Golf Leader of the Year award for my outstanding work with juniors. In 2013, US Kids Golf distinguished as one of the Top 50 Junior Golf Instructors in the Country. And in 2017, the Georgia Section PGA honored me with the Player Development Award for my contributions to developing adult and junior golfers. Currently, I have several positions: 1. Director of Golf at Mary Calder Golf Club 2. Lead Instructor of The Golf Swing Studio 3. Tour Director of the US Kids Golf Tour Savannah / Hilton Head 4. Tour Director of the Girls Golf of Savannah organization And most important... Husband to Michelle, and father to Carter, Ellie Grace and Luke
